Zen 2.0 and the .m4a Format
(too old to reply)

I am trying to get my Nomad Zen 2.0 20 GB to receive and play songs recorded in
the .m4a Format. When I try to transfer them from my computer to the Zen I get
an error message. WinAmp plays them well, so they are not corrupt.

I went to the Creative site and they say my Zen is too old to bother their
Support Staff with an e-mail. No luck with their database either. Great support,
eh?

Hey Stainless Steel Rat, glad to see you're still here helping people out. Your
answers have certainly helped me out in the past. Good on you!

TIA,
Cheers,

Unfortunately the Zen simply doesn't play MP4s. I'm not sure if *any*
Creative player plays MP4s as they seem to be an Apple iPod only format.

You can convert them directly to MP3s using various software, assuming
they're not locked tracks from the iTunes store. Although even those can be
converted with programs like JHymn.

He's right. My other half has got an iPod and you can't play that stuff
on anything without Apple's say so, so that's the Creative boxen out
the way for starters. Hasn't DVD Jon decrypted the Apple DRM yet?

Doc (and thanks for the quote ;))

Hey Stainless Steel Rat,

As usual you advice was spot-on. Jhymn worked great--just what I was looking
for. I only had 2 songs to convert, and it's very nice to be able to listen to
them on my Zen.

THX,
